If you wish to send your parcel in roll format, you will require a roll stamp. If your shipment exceeds the maximum weight or dimensions, please use DHL Paket as the basic product and then add the roll service.

Information about permissible content of parcels (Päckchen and Paket)

DHL Germany will not ship any products, the transport or storage of which is subject to hazardous goods regulations. For exceptions, please refer to the "Rules governing the transport of hazardous substances and objects".

Hazardous goods are defined as contents which are

• explosive
• gaseous
• inflammable
• pose a risk of contagion
• toxic
• caustic
• environmentally dangerous
• radioactive

or which have any other hazardous properties or physical states as defined by the ADR (Accord Européen sur le transport des marchandises dangereuses par route).

Please note that many everyday products are considered hazardous goods under transport law, even if we would not normally consider them hazardous because we often underestimate their harmful potential. These include for example hairspray, perfume, matches, gas lighters, table tennis balls and freshening wipes.

Special value limits are applicable to the transport of particularly valuable goods with DHL Express Germany.

The cash on delivery service enables you to ensure that the recipient only receives the DHL Paket after payment of the cash on delivery amount. This means that you, as a sender, can be sure that you will receive your money.

• + EUR 5.00* added to the price of the parcel
• Maximum receivable sum: EUR 3,500
• Payment of the outstanding sum will only be accepted in cash
• A forwarding fee of EUR 2.00 is deducted from the sum received (not charged if the parcel cannot be delivered)
• The cash on delivery sticker and the required transfer voucher are available from your nearest outlet.

By attaching a prepared advice of delivery to your parcel you can ensure that the recipient confirms receipt of the item with their signature. The signed advice of delivery will be sent back to you as confirmation of receipt. The required advice of delivery form is available from your nearest outlet.

The advice of delivery service is not available in combination with postage not paid.

* In addition to the parcel price. For parcels exceeding 10 kg or a combined length and girth of 300 cm, the transport insurance service is subject to VAT: EUR 2.14 (including VAT).

Bulky goods are shipments that

• if rectangular, exceed the maximum dimensions of a DHL Paket (120 x 60 x 60 cm),
• if roll-shaped, weigh more than 5 kg or exceed a length of 120 cm or a diameter of 15 cm,
• are neither rectangular nor roll-shaped,
• have protruding parts or are loosely tied or
• have no stable external packaging of corrugated cardboard, solid board or paper.

Luggage items are only considered to be bulky goods if they exceed the maximum dimensions of 120 x 60 x 60 cm. The packaging shape, material and features are irrelevant.

Special delivery conditions apply to bulky goods.

* In Addition to the parcel price. For parcels exceeding 10 kg or a combined length and girth of 300 cm, the bulky goods service is subject to VAT: 23.80 EUR (including VAT)
** Combined length and girth = length + 2x width + 2x height.

We will be responsible for loss of or damage to your DHL Paket parcels during delivery anywhere in Germany up to a value of EUR 500 (only upon presentation of the acknowledged deposit receipt). For particularly valuable shipments we also offer transport insurance of up to EUR 2,500 or EUR 25,000. The outer packaging must not give any indication of the value of the shipment.

Do you require the recipient to pay the costs of delivery?
With the postage not paid service, you can send your parcel without paying for the postage and the costs are paid for by the recipient. The recipient pays the delivery costs (the price of the postage not paid service) upon receipt of the shipment. If the recipient refuses payment (and therefore acceptance of the parcel), the parcel will be returned to you and you will be obliged to pay the delivery costs.

The postage not paid service can be combined with the bulky goods service, in which case the delivery costs amount to EUR 38.80. This service cannot be combined with any other services.
