DHL Maxitransport

1. Make your request via DHL Online franking
   and pay online via PayPal, or DHL Checkout (or after a short registration via credit card, debit or giropay.
   
   
2. Your object will be picked up by the courier company
   on your preferred pick-up day following prior agreement of the pick-up window. The postage/ waybills will be brought along for the pick-up.
   
   
3. Delivery to the recipient following prior agreement
   of the delivery window. The usual lead time from pick-up to delivery is up to 2 weeks.

In the event of loss of or damage to your DHL MAXITRANSPORT shipments, DHL shall be liable in the amount of the direct damage typical for the type of contract, up to the statutory limits of liability. DHL shall not rely on the statutory limits of liability where the damage does not exceed EUR 1,250.00.

If wished, we can offer you an enhanced insurance sum of up to EUR 25,000 in addition to the basic insurance sum.

² Prices are VAT-free in accordance with VAT legislation.

At your request, we can package your object when we pick it up to make sure it stays safe during transport.

The packaging service can only be provided where transport-safe packaging can be assured using furniture covers, shrink-wrap film and bubble wrap. The packaging service does not include dismantling or assembly. Upon delivery, we will take away the packaging or dispose of it for you.

The following packaging prices (incl. VAT) apply for tyres, bicycles and large domestic appliances regardless of the freight volume:

• 2 tyres with/ without rims up to 19 inch: EUR 9.90
• 4 tyres with/ without rims up to 19 inch: EUR 9.90
• Bicycle: EUR 9.90
• Mopeds up to 50 ccm: EUR 13.80
• Mopeds/ motorbikes over 50 ccm: EUR 15.10
• Electric cooker with maximum oven volume of 65 litres: EUR 10.55
• Dishwasher: EUR 9.90
• Fridge/ freezer with maximum volume of 200 litres (max. dim.: 130 x 60 x 65 cm): EUR 10.55
• Tumble-drier: EUR 10.55
• Washing machine: EUR 11.20
  

Cancellation:

If there is a full working day between the cancellation and the preferred pick-up day (Mon - Fri), no charge will be levied for cancellation. If there is not a full working day between the cancellation and the preferred pick-up day (Mon - Fri), a cancellation fee will be levied. The cancellation fee is EUR 39.90¹.

Cancellations are not permitted after an object has been picked up.

Additional pick-up attempt:

If nobody can be located at the time of the agreed pick-up, our couriers will contact you again to agree a second pick-up appointment. This second pick-up appointment is free. Should there be no one at the address when our courier returns for the second pick-up appointment, the order will be cancelled and a charge incurred. A cancellation cost of EUR 39.90¹ will be retained from the delivery fee already paid.

Additional delivery attempt:

If nobody can be located at the time of the agreed delivery, our couriers will contact you again to agree a second delivery appointment. This second delivery attempt is free. Should there be no one at the address when our courier returns for the second pick-up appointment, we will request instructions from the customer as to how the shipment is to be handled. A new, paid-for DHL MAXITRANSPORT shipment must be ordered if the package is to be delivered to the same recipient again, to a different recipient, or in cases where it is returned to the customer.

Outsized volumes:

If the actual freight volume is greater than the dimensions or weight specified on the request for DHL MAXITRANSPORT, the difference (calculated from the actual freight volume and the specified volume) plus a processing fee of up to EUR 45.00 will be charged to the customer. The actual fee charged is derived from the table below.

You can request DHL MAXITRANSPORT for all objects that: 

1. Can be carried by 2 people (a suitable and working lift must be available for pick-ups/ deliveries to the fifth floor or higher);  
2. Weigh up to 100 kg (this weight restriction does not apply to rolling objects, such as motorbikes, which do not need to be physically carried for pick-up and delivery);  
3. Have a maximum volume of 4 m³ and do not exceed the following dimensions: length 600 cm, width 230 cm, height 200 cm;  
4. Are not classified under the banned objects listed below:  

• Goods that are essentially excluded from transport: These include items        
  
  1. that, due to their nature or packaging, may represent a danger to people, other objects being transported or other property;        
  2. whose nature, exterior shape or carriage infringes any legal or authority-imposed restriction;        
  3. whose transport requires special safety precautions or approval by an official body (hazardous goods pursuant to the German Directive on the Transport of Goods by Road or Rail (GGVSE).   
  • Objects with a value of over EUR 25,000   
  • Forms of payment, documents of monetary value or negotiable securities (e.g. cash, credit cards, cheques, savings books, bill of exchange, securities)   
  • One-off items and antiques, if these cannot be replaced with similar objects   
  • Precious stones, precious metals, stamps or coins   
  • Motorised equipment if fuel and/ or oil has not been drained   
  • Cars   
  • Pianos, grand pianos   
  • Living animals and plants, animal carcasses, body parts or human remains   
  • Anaesthetics and drugs, weapons and explosives, firearms as described in §1 of the German Weapons Act  
  • Perishable goods, deep-frozen goods, shipments cooled with dry ice.

** For tyres larger than 19”, the price depends on the chargeable volume. SUV, lorry or tractor tyres are excluded.

**** The price is only valid for domestic appliances and not for industrial appliances; assembly and disassembly are not included.

If you would like to calculate an approximate price without carefully weighing and measuring the object you wish to transport, the following list will provide you with some guideline figures for the freight volume and price:

The price of the DHL Maxitransport service depends on either the volume or the weight of the item.

Compare the volume (length x width x height) (in m)
with the weight (in kg) divided by 150.

The price of the Maxitransport service is based on the higher of these two figures.

Should your maxitransport order (from sender to recipient) comprise more than one item, the price shall be calculated according to the overall chargeable volume of all items.

Secure drawers or doors using adhesive tape. Send keys separately by post or secure them firmly inside the packaging. Movable parts, such as shelves, must be secured firmly against slipping during transport or packaged separately and booked for transport.

If you do not have any special packing tape, which does not remove varnish/ paint or stick to furniture, you should avoid sticking the adhesive tape directly onto your item of furniture and instead use stretch film.

Pad corners, edges and feet particularly well with bubble wrap or use special edge and corner protectors.Then completely envelop the item of furniture with bubble wrap or alternatively with furniture covers, which should be secured in place with stretch film or adhesive tape.

Please note that appliances must be freestanding and disconnected from the power supply and water connection (where applicable) ready for collection.

Washing machines and driers must also be free of water and detergent residues and correctly secured for transport. Transport lock is therefore a mandatory requirement for the shipping of washing machines.

Fridges and freezers must be defrosted, dry and clean.

Screw in adjustable feet fully and pad edges and corners well with bubble wrap or special edge and corner protectors. The appliance should then be completely covered with bubble wrap.

Package all items with at least a double layer of bubble wrap, place extra protection over the corners and edges and mark the surfaces on all sides with a clearly-visible sticker, stating "Glass. With Care. Fragile".

Release the handlebar screw and position the handlebars parallel to the bike frame. Secure the handlebars in this position. Remove all parts that are not firmly screwed on and may get lost during transport.

Double-wrap all scratch-sensitive parts with bubble wrap or adequate amounts of cardboard. Secure the packaging with adhesive tape. You do not need to remove pedals, but you should secure them against damage using bubble wrap or cardboard.

Aluminium or chrome rims in particular require sturdy, safe and impact-resistant packaging. We would recommend use of foam and thick cardboard to prevent the surface from being scratched during transport. The tyres should be completely encased with sturdy cardboard and padded with foam or a similar material, particularly in the rim area. You should also wrap a quality adhesive tape around the cardboard several times.

Tyres with less sensitive steel rims can also be shipped in the sturdy tyre bags you will have received from your tyre dealer. Again these should be wrapped with a quality adhesive tape.

Generally speaking, we would recommend putting two tyres together in one bundle. Because they are difficult to handle, do not pack four tyres together.

Please also remember to label the individually packed or bundled tyres with the recipient’s address. If the shipping documents are accidently lost during transport, mix-ups and delays will therefore be prevented.

Drain the fuel and oil. Remove all parts that are not firmly screwed on and may get lost during transport. Double-wrap all scratch-sensitive parts with bubble wrap or adequate amounts of cardboard. Secure the packaging with adhesive tape. Pedals or other parts that jut out, such as footpegs, do not need to be removed; simply secure them against damage using bubble wrap or cardboard.

Items are usually handed over without a loading aid. However, if you do hand over the item together with a loading aid, the dimensions of the loading aid will be included in the calculation of the chargeable volume. DHL accepts no liability for such loading aids and will not keep a record of such equipment or return it.
